TPE will be operating an emergency timetable from Saturday 3rd August at least until Monday 5th August, potentially longer.
Because of the Whaley Bridge/Toddbrook Dam situation, the line between Manchester and Sheffield is closed. In order to provide a replacement service between Manchester and Sheffield, TPE will be extending the Manchester to Huddersfield stopping service to/from Sheffield.
Sheffield to Manchester every hour (xx:11), calling Meadowhall, Huddersfield, Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield, Stalybridge and Manchester Piccadilly.
Manchester to Sheffield every hour (xx:17), calling at Stalybridge, Greenfield, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield and Sheffield.
Whilst timings between Huddersfield and Manchester should be unaltered, expect the trains to be a lot busier than usual.
UPDATE 4/08/2019. It all seems a bit pointless, given that TPE, National Rail Enquiries, etc are not telling people about the Sheffield to Manchester via Huddersfield service. The advice being given is either not to travel, or to travel via Leeds. So however well-intentioned this is, the only practical effect is to make the Huddersfield to Manchester stopping service more prone to cancellations.
SECOND UPDATE 6/08/2019. The information being given out by TPE & Nantional Rail Enquiries was belatedly changed, sometime on 5/08/2019, so as to tell passengers about the Sheffield to Manchester via Huddersfield service. The Sheffield to Manchester route will reopen on Wednesday 7/08/2019.
