From Saturday 19 September until Sunday 4 October, the Transpennine Route Upgrade will be delivering major improvement works in and around Huddersfield.
During this 16-day period, Huddersfield and Slaithwaite stations will be closed.
Trains will be running between Marsden and Manchester Piccadilly on weekdays only.
On the weekends of 19-20 September and 3-4 October, Mossley, Greenfield and Marsden stations will also be closed. Customers will be kept on the move via diversionary routes and rail replacement buses, and are encouraged to plan their journey ahead of time at nationalrail.co.uk.
TRU teams will be working around the clock to deliver:
- Station upgrades at both Huddersfield and Deighton
- 2km of new track, as part of TRU plans to double the number of tracks through the area from two to four so that direct services can overtake stopping services and reduce journey times
- 2.5km of track renewals and drainage for smoother, more reliable journeys
- The installation of over 20 overhead line equipment (OLE) masts, which will support the wires powering greener, electrified services in the future.
The route will also be closed between Stalybridge and Huddersfield on the weekend of 10th & 11th October, which is Marsden Jazz Festival weekend.
