Passenger usage figures for Marsden and Slaithwaite are up by 35% and 28% respectively since last year. Part of this may be because there were fewer days of bus replacement in 2024-25 compared to the previous year (something which will not apply in 2025-26), but both are higher than pre-Covid levels.
Marsden’s 2024-25 figure of 220,584 passenger journeys is 17% above the previous highest figure in 2011-12.
Slaithwaite’s 2024-25 figure of 235,294 is also the highest since records were published.
SMART’s view is that this level of passenger usage amply justifies our aspiration for two stopping trains per hour throughout the day.
