From Monday 18 May, TPE will be increasing the amount of services run in the amended timetable. The new timetable, so far as it affects Slaithwaite & Marsden, appears to be similar to the pre-Covid19 timetable, with
- the addition of an earliest first train (Marsden 0602, Slaithwaite 0606) to Huddersfield, Leeds & Hull; and
- the withdrawal of the last train (2335 from Manchester Piccadilly).
In general they are at 30 past the hour (Marsden) and 34 past the hour (Slaithwaite) to Huddersfield, with extras at peak times; and at 00 minutes past the hour (Slaithwaite) and 05 minutes past the hour (Marsden) to Manchester. But check the times in the published timetable as some are a couple of minutes different from this hourly pattern.
The Saturday timetable may be slightly different from the weekday timetable, and the Sunday timetable has (as at 22nd May) been published for 24th May but not yet for subsequent Sundays.
The timetable change has been done in line with the
Government’s request to increase services to enable those making essential
journeys, to get where they need to be. The advice from HM Government is
still for the nation to reduce non essential travel, avoid using public
transport and to work from home where possible.
While there is an uplift in services, there will be significant restrictions on
capacity to help enable social distancing, with only around 15 to 20 seats per
carriage available for customers. Please consider if your journey is
really necessary.

Protecting Customers
To
keep those customers who must use train services for essential travel and to
get to work, TPE are doing the following:
- To protect customers and staff, TPE have increased cleaning at turnaround locations, making sure that driver cabs are cleaned so staff can work safely, while cleaning teams are focusing on cleaning those areas that staff and customers are more likely to touch, such as handrails, tables and ticket vending machines.
- At key stations, TPE are introducing clear two-metre markings on flooring in areas where people are likely to queue.
- Due to social distancing guidelines, capacity on services will be greatly reduced and capacity on board services will be limited to around 15 to 20 people per carriage.
- Some seats will be blocked off to help guide customers socially distance from one another. TPE will also be introducing red and green markers on trains to help guide customers to where they can sit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are TPE increasing services when people are still being advised not to travel?
A: TPE have been asked by Government to increase our service levels a significant time before plans to ease lockdown to ensure a smooth transition to the next phase. This increase in services also allows those who do need to travel to social distance from other customers.
The travel advice remains the same for those using train services. You should only board trains for essential travel, which is:
• Any medical need, including to donate
blood, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to provide care or to help a
vulnerable person
• Travelling to and from work if you cannot work from home
Q: What is the advice for people travelling after 18 May?
A: The Government advice remains against all non-essential travel and for people to continue to work from home where possible. The increase in services from Monday 18 May does not to reflect a change in travel advice, but to be in a position to accommodate more people to travel while maintaining social distancing advice in the future.
Q: Do I need to wear a facemask to board?
A: TPE recommend that those customers who cannot socially distance from others wear a face mask as per Government advice.
AMENDED 22 May 2020: Sunday times available for 24th May but not for subsequent Sundays.
