Engineering Works, 14th – 29th April

Revised timetable over 3 weekends and 2 weeks whilst Victoria to Stalybridge route is closed for engineering works.

Trains between Huddersfield and Stalybridge. Replacement bus between Stalybridge, Ashton & Victoria.

Complete closure between Huddersfield and Victoria on middle weekend 21st & 22nd April.

Not sure whether some peak trains between Huddersfield and Stalybridge will be quietly withdrawn. Last time they did this, Northern withdrew some of the peak trains but didn’t bother with any publicity at Marsden, Slaithwaite or Huddersfield. The only publicity done was SMART committee members walking through the peak trains on the last working day before the closure talking to passengers. That’s something we won’t be doing this time. Northern need to take responsibility for providing adequate publicity in the right places.

Public Meeting About Timetable Changes, Wednesday 9th May

7.30pm, Marsden Parochial Hall, Clough Lea, Marsden HD7 4DN (to the side of the parish church).
UPDATE, 26/04/2018. Now announced as strike day on Northern,but our meeting will go ahead as planned.

If unable to attend, there’s another public meeting the following week on the west side, arranged jointly by Friends of Mossley Station and Greenfield Rail Action Group, to be held at 7.30 on Wednesday 16th May, at George Lawton Hall, Stamford Street, Mossley OL5 0HR.

Manchester Victoria station will be closed for engineering works on Sunday 8th April. Trains will run between Huddersfield and Stalybridge, with then a choice of replacement bus to Victoria or connecting train between Stalybridge & Piccadilly.

Engineering Work, Friday 30 March – Monday 2 April

Manchester Victoria station will be closed for engineering works over Easter weekend. Trains will run between Huddersfield and Stalybridge (some continuing to/from Ashton on Friday 30th), with then a choice of replacement bus to Victoria or connecting train between Stalybridge & Piccadilly.

It’s worth noting, since Northern haven’t highlighted it, that this affects passengers travelling between Marsden/Slaithwaite & Huddersfield. It will be a basic hourly service so the usual peak hour weekday extras between Marsden/Slaithwaite & Huddersfield will be withdrawn.
