{"id":2225,"date":"2020-11-12T21:34:13","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T21:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smart-rail.co.uk\/?p=2225"},"modified":"2020-11-12T21:34:13","modified_gmt":"2020-11-12T21:34:13","slug":"west-yorkshire-rail-strategy-november-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smart-rail.co.uk\/?p=2225","title":{"rendered":"West Yorkshire Rail Strategy, November 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>West Yorkshire Combined Authority have published, as part of the agenda papers for their Transport Committee on 18<sup>th<\/sup> November, their West Yorkshire Rail Strategy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westyorkshire.moderngov.co.uk\/documents\/s17803\/Item%2010%20-%20Appendix%201.pdf\">https:\/\/westyorkshire.moderngov.co.uk\/documents\/s17803\/Item%2010%20-%20Appendix%201.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s all a bit generic, with little to say about specific\nroutes or locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It says all the right things, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>about the need for stations to be fully accessible, <\/li><li>about the need for local stopping services to be half-hourly or better, <\/li><li>about electrification, <\/li><li>about the need to deliver the Transpennine Route Upgrade in full (without defining what \u201cin full\u201d means) <\/li><li>about the quality of rolling stock, <\/li><li>about cross-boundary services.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately the power to make and implement decisions lies\nelsewhere, with the Department for Transport to be precise.
