Anyone travelling from Slaithwaite to Barnsley or Sheffield would, until the timetable change, have changed at Huddersfield on to a Penistone line train. Off-peak return cost to Sheffield \u00a310.60.<\/p>\n
National Rail’s journey planner now shows the quickest route as being via Leeds. The catch is that via Leeds it’s an anytime return at \u00a320.90 (though the off-peak day return to Barnsley is <\/strong>valid via Leeds).<\/p>\n The lower fare to Sheffield is still available via the Penistone line, but it’s even slower than at present, with a 52′ connection at Huddersfield.
